DECT Cordless Phones

DECT cordless phones use their own radio band instead of your Wi-Fi, so call quality doesn't depend on the wireless network. A base station connects to the network and the handsets roam around it. Multicell systems cover warehouses and large buildings.

What is a DECT phone?

DECT is the cordless standard that business phone systems use. A DECT system has a base station that plugs into your network and handsets that talk to the base over their own radio band, separate from your Wi-Fi. That keeps voice traffic off the wireless network, and battery life is excellent: the Yealink W73H handset gets up to 35 hours of talk time.

Single-cell or multicell?

One Yealink W70B base (the base in the W73P, W76P, W77P and W78P kits) supports up to 10 handsets, 10 SIP accounts and 20 simultaneous calls, and up to six RT30 repeaters stretch its coverage. That covers most small and mid-sized offices. When one base isn't enough, a multicell system (Yealink W80 or W90, Snom M900) links several bases into one system, and handsets roam between them as people move around.

Common questions

Which handsets work with which base?

Stay within one brand. Yealink handsets (W73H, W56H, W78H, W57R, W59R Pro) work with the Yealink W70B, W80 and W90 bases. Snom M70, M80, M85 and M90 handsets work with the Snom M400 and M900 bases, while the Snom KLE handsets need the M100 KLE base. Poly Rove handsets work with the Rove bases. Each product page lists its exact compatible models.

DECT or Wi-Fi phones?

DECT brings its own base station and radio band, so it works the same no matter how good your Wi-Fi is. Wi-Fi phones need no extra hardware, but they're only as good as your wireless coverage, and their batteries don't last as long.

Are there rugged DECT handsets?

Yes. The Yealink W59R Pro is IP67 rated with man-down and emergency alarms, the Snom M85 is IP65 with alarm features, and the Poly Rove 30 and Rove 40 are IP65 rated. The Yealink W57R, Snom M80 and Snom M10R KLE are rugged too. Use the Ruggedized filter above to see them all.

Will these phones work with my phone system?

Every phone we sell is a standard SIP phone, so it registers to FreePBX, Yeastar and most hosted phone platforms. If you aren't sure about yours, email shop@crosstalksolutions.com before you order and we'll check.
