On-premise PBX or hosted?
An on-premise PBX is a phone system server that lives in your office or rack. You own the hardware, there's no monthly per-user fee for the PBX itself, and calls between extensions stay on your own network. Calls to the outside world still go over a SIP trunk. The trade-off is that the box is yours to look after: updates, backups and eventually replacement. If you'd rather not manage hardware, take a look at our hosted Cloud PBX, or see how our on-premise systems work.
Which appliance?
Common questions
What software runs on these appliances?
FreePBX comes pre-installed on every Crosstalk appliance.
Do I need a SIP trunk?
Yes. The appliances are pure VoIP, so outside calls go over a SIP trunk. We resell ClearlyIP SIP Trunking, which integrates tightly with FreePBX. Contact us for details.
Can I connect analog phone lines or a fax machine?
None of the appliances has built-in analog ports. Add an analog gateway, or on the rack units (741, 751, 760, 790), an analog or digital card in one of the PCIe slots.
What warranty comes with them?
Every Crosstalk appliance includes a 2-year hardware warranty, and you can extend it to 5 years when you order.
