Grandstream HT801 V2 1-Port Analog Telephone Adapter

The Grandstream HT801 V2 is a one-port analog telephone adapter (ATA). It turns a single analog phone, fax machine or door phone into an extension on your SIP phone system, so the old device keeps working after you move to VoIP.

It has one 10/100 network port and no pass-through port for a computer. If you need two analog devices at the same spot, the HT802 V2 adds a second port.

Quick guide to the two port types: an FXS port provides dial tone, so you plug in an analog phone, fax machine, door phone or overhead paging amplifier. An FXO port takes dial tone, so you plug in an analog phone line from the phone company. Our Crosstalk PBX appliances are pure VoIP with no analog ports, so an ATA or gateway is how you bring analog devices or phone lines onto the system.

Good to know

  • FXS only. It connects analog phones and devices, not phone lines from the phone company. For phone lines, use an FXO gateway like the Grandstream HT841.
  • Fax over VoIP works best when your SIP provider supports T.38. Test your fax machine on the line before you rely on it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I plug a phone line from the phone company into the HT801 V2?

No. Its single port is FXS, which connects analog phones, fax machines and door phones. To connect phone company lines, use an FXO gateway like the Grandstream HT841.

Does the HT801 V2 support fax?

Yes. It supports T.38 fax relay up to 14.4kbps and falls back to G.711 pass-through.

Is the HT801 V2 the same as the HT801?

It is the newer revision. VoIP Supply lists the original HT801 as discontinued, with the HT801 V2 as its replacement.
