Frequently asked questions
Does the Grandstream WP820 have Wi-Fi 6?
No. The WP820 is 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4). For Wi-Fi 6, look at the WP826 or the rugged WP836.
Does the WP820 roam between access points?
Yes. In our testing it roamed between access points with barely noticeable audio skips. A Wi-Fi phone is only as good as the wireless network, so plan for solid coverage everywhere the handset will go.
Should I get a Wi-Fi phone or a DECT phone?
If you already have good Wi-Fi coverage everywhere, a Wi-Fi phone needs no extra hardware. DECT runs on its own radio band with its own base station, which keeps voice off the Wi-Fi. See our DECT phones.
